“Pain, I came to feel, might well prove to be the
sole proof of the persistence of consciousness with the flesh, the sole physical expression of consciousness. As my body acquired
muscle, and in turn strength, there was gradually born within me the tendency towards positive acceptance of pain, and my
interest in physical suffering deepened.” Yukio Mishima - Sun and Steel
What
is PR or ER® ? PR or ER ® is
not just a business or a catch-phrase, it is a philosophy. It is a way of life for those who seek to perform at the highest
level each time out. You never know how good you are until you push yourself to the brink. Like they say in Vegas, "no
balls, no blue chips." If you are one of those "athletes" who like to strike up a conversation in between intervals
at your Master's swim workout about last night's episode of American Idol, then PR or ER ® is probably not for
you.
We
believe that you should always compete at a level where you are expending the maximum effort possible each time out,
no matter what your level of competition might be. A novice competitor can "blow up" just like a seasoned professional
if they are willing to commit. Its not about being good enough, its about being stupid enough. At PR or ER ® we truly
believe that any athlete is capable of being stupid enough if they set their mind to it. If you're not going to spend
some time in the medical tent after an event, why bother showing up? Why spend anywhere from $50-$500 for a t-shirt and/or
medal when you can enjoy a few bags of IV fluid at no additional cost? The line for massages will also have diminished
by the time you are released by event medical staff. Its a no-brainer, yet many athletes continue to adhere to the philosophy
of "staying within themselves" during endurance events. PR or ER ® is here to alter that archaic way of thinking,
training, and racing.
Its not how fast you begin your race, its how fast you can end it!

PR or ER? You
make the call.
Was it PR or ER for the man in red at the 2010 SC X-Country State Championships?
It probably would have been a PR if they were running a 4.9K, but much to his surprise it happened to be a 5K.
